Lexar Media Ships JumpDrive™ 2.0 Pro, First USB-IF Certified Hi-Speed 2.0 Flash
Drive
FREMONT, Calif., November 18, 2002 -- Lexar Media, Inc. (Nasdaq: LEXR), a leading designer,
developer and marketer of award-winning high-performance digital media and accessories, has begun global
shipments for JumpDrive™ 2.0 Pro, a new portable flash drive that utilizes the USB 2.0 standard for faster
data transfer rates. With the embedded Lexar Media patented high-speed controller and USB 2.0 compatibility,
JumpDrive 2.0 Pro is capable of a sustained read speed of 6.0MB per second and a sustained write speed of
4.5MB per second, providing the fastest way to transfer files through a computer's USB port to a connected
USB flash drive. JumpDrive 2.0 Pro is available in 256MB memory capacity at a manufacturer's suggested
list price of $199.99.
"JumpDrive 2.0 Pro is the only portable flash-based storage device to be certified
by the USB-IF for Hi-Speed USB performance," said Eric Stang, president and
CEO, Lexar Media. "JumpDrive 2.0 Pro is the most versatile storage device since
the floppy. Compatibility with both PC and Mac computers, 256 megabytes of memory
and Hi-Speed USB 2.0 speed to handle large files, make JumpDrive Pro an all-purpose
tool for any computer user."
A 256MB JumpDrive 2.0 Pro stores up to four CDs of MP3 music or about 176 floppy
disks of data, yet is small enough to carry in a pocket or as a key chain. With
a sustained read speed of 6.0MB per second, JumpDrive 2.0 Pro is capable of
transferring 200 megabytes of video files in less than 50 seconds; 75 times
faster than a floppy disk and six times faster than a USB 1.1 flash drive. In
addition to being compatible with PC and Mac computers, JumpDrive 2.0 Pro is
plug and play in current computer operating systems including Windows 2000,
Me, XP and Mac OS 8.6, 9 or X; drivers are available for Windows 98 at www.lexar.com.
